So, despite rumors, I was not mad at Jason at any time before, during, or after my trip....in fact, I was incredibly grateful and amazed at his generosity because I know the 11 days weren't a piece of cake. So, once again, I did not abandon my children and husband, Jason and I were NOT on a break...it was a simple get-away that I was invited to attend. hahaha. I like it that our quiet life had a little soap opera drama to it, though! My aunt Chris and I flew into Bellingham International Airport, (kinda funny because its smaller than Walmart),

on the 15th and stayed at my aunt Erin's house in Ferndale. We took Erin's kids to Hovander on Monday, which is sort of a heritage museum/farm. Its beautiful and I went there about ten years ago and it was fun to go back. The next day we went and saw all the old homes that my mom and aunties lived in back in the day and then went to Whatcom Falls, (BIG falls and pools and lots of ferns...think Jurassic Park or rainforest)...it was beautiful as always. I saw the place where I cliff dove back when I was about 14 and relived the terror just by standing there. It was fun. The next day we drove down around the docks of Bellingham and to Larraby...not sure if I spelled it right, but that's where the beach pictures are from. I found a little barnacle stuck to a rock there. Thought it was cute and it reminded me of the "wise man and the foolish man" song in primary. That beach is where I actually saw the

ocean for the first time ever at 14 years old! It was sunny and warm and it was absolutely gorgeous. As we drove we just saw so many Swans it was crazy! They were all camped out in the swampy farm lands and we just saw them everywhere! We stayed with my aunt Pat in Duvall for a few days. I sewed and crafted....which is where the fabric food came from. I'd always wanted to try making some food like that and when we were on our way to Larraby we had stopped in a quilt shop and I saw some...didn't buy the pattern...but it got me fired up. We took the ferry across the sound

and went to Poulsbo...I didn't take any pictures but the town was all Norske-looking and fun! Fun place! We also drove up to Leavenworth, which is a little toursity town that is all Bavarian themed! The mountains were all snow capped and this little town was just perfect up there! Even the Subway and Starbucks signs were all Bavarian-looking! We shopped and had lunch and I'd never seen anything like it up there! We were supposed to fly home on Wednesday the 25th at like 7pm, but a week of sunny

weather couldn't hold out and it SNOWED on us. Now, I know most of you who are reading this live in Utah, and snow isn't a big deal, but they tell me it is up there and I believe them after seeing all the crazy drivers! So, after it blizzarded on us all afternoon, my aunt called the airline and got us on a flight for the next morning. The next morning we woke up, it was bright and sunny and we thought all was a go! Well, we get through security, get all settled, had only an hour to wait, (it was about 8am), and they announced

that all planes for our peticular airline were delayed until noon at the earliest because of the ice on the runway...yeah....! So, we hung around...it all got pushed back from noon to two pm and we just watched the airport people shovel snow with little shovels and spread ice melt with little sand shovels with two BIG snow plows sitting right behind them. Finally at 3 pm or so we got to actually get in a plane and go home! The first 5 days of my vacation were a breeze, missing home and kids, and we kept so busy and it was

just kind of a "enjoy this while you can" attitude that I had. The next couple of days, I just kept busy and we took it easy and stuck around the house. I watched a lot of cable, which is what I needed! I haven't watched that much "John and Kate Plus 8" or "Little People" in a long time! Loved it. The last couple of days I was ready to be home and back to my routine and snuggling my kids. So, to be kept from going home for an extra 24 hours, I was going nuts, but probably because it was the whole "hurry up and wait"

and "maybe we'll get out of here someday" kind of thing. Its hard to keep yourself busy when you're in limbo. I wanted my kids, my husband, my bubble bath, you know, that stuff. Anyway, I actually walked in my home around midnight on Thursday night/Friday morning. I think I just snuggled my kids all day and just loved on them! I knew I was to start work at Zion on Sunday, so I just enjoyed my kids while I had them. I had a fun trip. I think if I ever go away again, I'm not going for more than a few days unless I

take Jason. I just missed him. Whenever I was doing something fun I just wished he was there to experience it with me. Thanks, Honey, for letting me go and thanks to my aunties who tolerated my presence on a sister trip!
