Yeah, we're still kickin'....

I'm almost done with my six week stint with Zion NP and it'll be bittersweet. I love being back there and doing a job I know how to do, I love the sun and the animals and not having to stare into a computer screen, but I also am not a fan of the 1.25 hr drive each way...or the people who drive 10 mph in a 65 mph zone and won't pull over....or the mean people who can't read the signs that say "$25 fee for all through traffic"...and most especially the ones who DO read those signs, get up to my booth and say "Wow, we didn't really BELIEVE it though" and still chew me out. This week, it was like someone flipped the MEAN switch on! The last few weeks have been a dream...I think I got two mean cars out of 4 whole weeks! Well, this week was a little (A LOT) worse. Its okay, I'm just venting! I need thicker skin.

Most of these pictures are from a hiking trip we took last weekend down to Zion. I went with my friends Charmaine and Tyra and we hiked Angel's Landing. It was my FIRST time...yeah, I know...I work there...its pathetic. You can't take little kids on it, thus it being my first time! Can I just say: They looked so cute...and I wore some nasty warm-up pants and a hoodie...so, yeah, I look like a major frump! A.L. was way fun! It was not the usual....walk, walk, walk--oh, look at that great view--okay, walk, walk, walk for five hours! It was challenging, lots of different terrains...very fun! I've always had these old German guys coming up to me asking about Angel's Landing and I'd tell them where the trail head was and all that. Well, last Saturday while we were hiking I kept thinking...."if those old Germans can do this....I can totally do it!" hahaha.
These last couple of pics were from a couple of weeks ago. I was working at tunnel east and this herd of 7 or 8 ewes and 4 baby Bighorn Sheep came walking across the road and straight up onto this outcropping! I think I sat there and watched them for 5 hours at least just mull around and munch and stuff. The babies were so cute and hippity-hoppity! It was fun. Two summers ago I was there for 4 months and I saw the bighorn TWICE in that time of frame! Each time, I probably could only see them for a few minutes each.

Wow that is so cool that you get to work at Zion NP! I love it there! I have never done Angles Landing either, but Aaron's Dad took him and his two sisters when they were really little and Aaron said it scared him to Death!

Oh! how precious you got to share your workspace with the wildlife! And babies even! We need to zoom in on these pics though. You know I like to get up close and personal. Actually, I just want to be there too.

That is so pretty. Shawn's family is coming down in a few weeks and they all want to go hike in Zions, but my blood pressure is already high so I really doubt my doctor is going to give me clearance to go. So I'm jealous of people who get to go.

Sorry about all the mean people. It is always easier to do things with out kids. But they are totally worth it. I have never been to zions. Maybe we will get down there this summer.
