The Piute County Fair

This year we went to the Piute County Fair in Junction, Utah. Both sides of my family have roots there, so its like a big family reunion of sorts when we do go. This year, we talked my dad into coming with us being that most of the county is on his side of the family and I don't know 90% of our distant cousins. So, we left early enough that we could have some good carnie food from the booths and so the kids could play. The kids loved the little playground and they got to play on the merry go round...the kind that I used to play on as a kid! I think that's the last one standing in Utah, I'm sure!! They loved it and we had fun watching them and listening to the great bands that were playing there. There were so many fun sporting entries, I wish Jason had been able to go. He woulda loved entering the horseshoe competition or volleyball or something. Jason had to DJ something or other that day, I forget what, so he couldn't go with us. After the kids played a little, (they were grumpy that day, go figure!), and we ate and hung around to visit, we followed my Aunt Chris, (0n my mom's side), to her house in Kingston where we had dinner and let the kids play while we visited. Jonas and Kinsey are kinda freaked out by dogs so when we got Jonas to throw the ball to Peanut, Aunt Chris's dog, I was thrilled! She is so smart! She'd bring the ball back to Jonas and gently put the ball in his hands or roll it across the ground to him. They played for at least a couple hours and Jonas was grossed out by the doggie drool on the ball, (typical Jonas), but he was so thrilled he got to play with a nice doggie. He still talks about it! She loved the baby and was just so fun! She'd just let go a batch of puppies so she must have had some mommy insticts still hanging on. While we were there Jonas kept talking about how he wanted to ride a horse and Paige said he could ride with her when she warmed up her horse in the arena at the rodeo that night. So, we get to the rodeo and Jonas wouldn't stop pestering me. Finally I took him down to put him on with Paige and he got nervous and didn't want to. So, I took Jonas all the way back up the bleachers and Kinsey got mad cause she wanted to...I was for sure she wouldn't, she's just my cautious kid. So, I drag her down the bleachers and she actually got on with Paige! I was so proud!!! She rode with her for 15 minutes or so and then got off and was all smiles the rest of the night! Brenna and my dad were off on an errand and took quite a while so it was quite the juggle running kids around and them begging for snow cones and the baby fussing and stuff. None of them napped during the day except for Logan off and on, so by 830pm they were done. Both of the older kids passed out on us in the bleachers during the rodeo and Logan did pretty well. We stayed for most of it and left at ten or so to come back home. I don't know that I saw much of the rodeo, I was so busy running around kids and getting food and feeding the baby, but it was fun just being there and starting the tradition, hopefully!
