Its a family tradition of ours to go to Sky Fest every year. The first year Jason, Kinsey and I went, we were renovating that house by the hospital and the soccer fields and one Saturday when we showed up to work, we saw all the balloons not 3 blocks away! I remember we had been working ourselves to death and decided to take a few hours and go have some family time...that was 2006, I believe! Ever since, we've gone to the festival. This year, life has been so crazy that we accidentally slept in and by the time we got
to the soccer fields, most of the balloons were in the air already. We still had fun walking and looking at the booths, the radio controlled planes and visiting with a few friends we ran into! That morning was unusually warm, so the balloons weren't able to stay up for long and were dropping in some pretty funny places. One dropped in the gravel pits and the people all looked like they were kinda panicked. Another dropped pretty quickly in a field across from our house. Anyway, this was the first year Jonas really went and will remember it, and he talks about the "big balloons with FIRE" all the time now.
