Summer Fun (AKA: Running Around With Our Heads Chopped Off!)

We've been trying to take advantage of our lazy summer, so we've jam packed it with activities galore it feels like! It seems like just as we clean up from one trip or activity, we're getting ready for another! Granted, most of them have been close to home, but even small trips are pretty messy with three kids! Logan is a water baby. He LOOOVVVEEESSS water. These pics are of him in our bathtub at home, but he can go from fussing and ready for bed, but when he hears the bath run, boy he's all smiles! He'll play for a while until I get bored and want to wash him and then he gets mad at me and cries. I'm a mean mommy for using soap during a bath! haha.

This last weekend we went to Northern Utah to see Jason's brother in Salt Lake and some friends in Spanish Fork! While in Salt Lake we all went swimming at this really cool indoor rec center. Logan even swam with me for the whole two hours!! It was fun! The kids were really bummed to leave but when we told them we were going back to Uncle Germ's house, they were excited! We went back to his house, made some Nachos Supreme a la Germ's style, watched a couple kid movies and then had to leave to go back to Spanish Fork. We wished we could have stayed longer...maybe next time! While in Spanish visiting the Jacobsens, (who are so rediculously busy we only get to see them once a year!), we gained lots of weight from all the yummy dinners we had with them, let the kids just play, laid some sod and a lot more. No kidding, Mylisa works for Provo city and at the ice rink she supervises, Texas Roadhouse was doing this meat cutting competition. WELL, somebody has to cook and eat the meat after, right? YEAH, we had Texas Roadhouse for lunch one day....free of charge! WAHOO! We went swimming at the Payson waterpark one day and everyone had a blast! Jason even showed off his farmers tan! haha. We left town to go back home on Tuesday night in the middle of a cool hail storm...the hail was the size of dimes and nickles and we thought it was gonna break our windshield!
We also went to Sand Hollow Reservoir a couple weeks ago and had a blast! We got there early enough for Jason and my dad to catch a few fish off the dam and then we played in the water for the rest of the day! When we first got there we set up a big awning for shade and Logan and I just hung out there all day by the water. Logan just slept the whole time! He was so good! The kids played on the beach and buried themselves in the red sand and took rides with Auntie Brennie and Juli on rafts in the water. Oh, and did I mention we ate junk food the whole time? Yeah, whats a lake trip without Red Vines, Doritos, Gatorade, Popcicles and some PB&J?
One of our favorite summer traditions is to go watch the fireworks for the opening ceremonies for the Utah Summer Games. The fireworks display is awesome and much better than the one the city puts on for the fourth of July! We always go park in a super secret spot for easy access and escape and we sit practically right under them! We took our friends Tracy and Grant Smith and had a last hang out with them because they left to move to Virginia a few days later while we were up north! It was fun to hang out with them and share the tradition! Once again, Logan slept right through them and we had a blast! My kids just love the "boom booms" as they call them!
Anyway, I know summer isn't over yet so there'll be more posts like this coming up! We do a dozen smaller activities in between these bigger ones....it really has been a jam packed summer!
