Usually we try to get our Christmas tree before we go away for Thanksgiving break. This year, we just couldn't carve out even a couple hours to do it before we left to go to Bakersfield. We got back from Thanksgiving and realized that by that point, it was December and that's when the REAL chaos starts! Parent teacher conferences and end of semester report cards and ward Christmas parties and work Christmas parties...not to mention getting presents bought or made and all of that stuff done! We were able to go up the mountain to get our tree in early December still, but we realized why we like to get our tree in November most of all....there is hardly any snow on the mountain in November! Well, this year's tree trip was quite the adventure! I couldn't find all the snow clothes for the kids and what I could find was much too small. So, we hodge-podged the snow outfits for the kids, (Jonas was

wearing pink snow boots!), and busted it up the mountain. The snow was about 3 1/2 feet high so it was hard to find a place to pull off! We finally found a spot up in Midway and Kinsey didn't want to hike. One of Kinsey's many eccentricities is that she absolutely hates getting her socks and the bottoms of her jeans wet. So, we turned on a movie for her and figured we'd stay close to the car and just find a tree already! Well, I had Logan in my arms and took off hiking and got stuck up to my waist in snow...with a 22 pounder in tow! Not so easy to dig myself out. So, Logie and I decided to stay on the trail where he got to play, (actually just sit because he was sleepy by then), in the snow for the first time! Jason ended up hiking out to get our tree and I had to (wince) give up some

control and let him pick one out. You know, he did awesome! It was really a cute tree! It took us a few more days to get motivated to decorate it and decorate the house. This year was just hard for us to get into the spirit for some reason. I think its because half of December felt over with by the time we got our decorations up. Next year we'll try to keep to the Thanksgiving deadline and I'm sure it'll help!
