We Be Jammin' (and bakin')

Yeah, so we made peach-plum and plain ole plum jam this past weekend! It was fun and MY JAM EVEN SET! Yay! I got a box of plums from one of Kinsey's classmate's dad. He works at the care and share and they couldn't give them away fast enough and they were getting pretty ripe. So, I saw some at Kinsey's school and asked about them and lo and behold...they had 3 more boxes to give away, so I took one! Then, I traded my friend some plums for some peaches they had picked from the church orchard in Hurricane and then I went to work. The hardest part, for sure, was cutting, coring, peeling, blanching the fruit, but after we did that, the rest was easy! I made strawberry jam every summer as a teenager and boy, did those days come back to me fast! It was fun to feel like I hadn't lost my touch! The jam tastes great and it was fun to feel like I could make something out of all that free ripe fruit!

Yesterday, I made sugar cookies for Young Women's and I only needed 2 dozen, so after Kinsey came home from preschool, she helped me cut out more cookies! We had fun and she loves to help me in the kitchen! Kinsey still loves to go to school and I volunteered there the other day and they said that she's a sweetie...never fights or disobeys or anything! Not that I'm surprised...she's hardly ever contrary these days, but its nice to know she treats others with respect and isn't a burden!

Kinsey comes home from school and wants to write all day! She has been writing her numbers and letters like crazy! I set up a chalk board in the living room and she stands there most of the day writing and singing and telling me what she is writing about! I love to see that she's so happy to be learning! Oh, and P.S.: I was feeding Jonas this morning and he looked up at me and said...."Mama" (in the tone of voice like: 'where did you come from?') clear as day! He kills me! He's so fun!
