One Sunday, Jason called me at work and told me that when I came home that night, we'd be leaving soon thereafter to go to Spanish Fork to visit our friends Chess and Mylisa Jacobsen!! I was excited and happy we would have something fun to do on my first three day weekend that I'd had for a while! We got to their house later that night and planned out the whole three days...down to the minute it seemed. On Monday, we went to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake! I hadn't been there since I was four years old and no one else in my family had been there! Jonas had never seen any animals besides cows and horses live, so I was excited! He's been obsessed with monkeys lately so I was thrilled for him to see some real ones! The picture of this Lion waterfountain is kinda weird, I know, but I have a picture of me as a four year old getting drink out of it! I wanted to reenact that picture, but then I saw that it was kinda dirty and I realized that EVERYONE in Utah for the last 20 years or so has a picture of them like mine, so I bailed and just took this pic! The kids had a blast and all us adults had fun visiting and watching the kids have fun. I think the favorite attraction for all of us was the bird show. It was amazing seeing such big raptors and other birds flying right over our heads! We just loved that show! Jonas was in a trance the whole time he enjoyed it so much! We saw the one elephant in the big area and we were going to go see the "Elephant Experience" but the elephant Christine who does the show was expecting soon and she was on maternity leave. I was kinda bummed and I remember thinking: "geeze, elephants gestate for 21 months....how long does an elephant get for leave?" Well, a couple days later I read in the news that Christine had her baby THAT DAY! How cool is that? We were there! I let the kids pick out $3 worth of stuff each at the gift shop and Jonas got a rubber/squeaky frog and Kinsey just wanted one of those cheap paper fans! I made her get a little teacup that has the zoo logo on it to go with her fan. She loves them! All in all, it was a cheap, memorable trip to the Zoo! My kids' first trip to a zoo! How fun!

Man that water fountain brings back memories, I am pretty sure I have the same picture also.
Are you serious Jason has never been to a Zoo or anything, WOW!
Jason's been to zoo's and aquariums. We used to go all the time as kids. Sometimes I just don't know what planet he spent most of his time on because although we shared a childhood, we totally have different memories of it. Maybe he never went with us? Maybe he stayed home and played video games?
But way cool pics! So much fun. You guys should go more often! I love taking the kids to the zoo!
Jason HAS been to Zoos and aquariums....I didn't mean he hasn't been to any. I just meant us as a family...us taking the kids. Kinsey and Jonas have never been to anything better than a petting zoo. Now that I think about it, Kinsey's been to the San Diego Zoo and some aquariums...but she was still in utero, so yeah, its been a while for all of us!!
